Dolphins’ Season Could Start with Thud, End with Bang

6 Aug

The Bills, Vikings, Jets, Patriots, Packers, Steelers, Ravens, and Bengals. These teams make up the first half of Miami’s 2010 schedule. That’s six playoff teams, plus the Steelers, who were only left out of the dance on a tiebreaker. Hell, the only “softie” the Dolphins get is in week 1 against the Bills, and even they were only two games below .500.

Simply put, the first half of this season is a brutal string of contests that will immediately test our team, and possibly the faith of Dolphins nation as well. But, even if we struggle, and find ourselves with a mid-point record that’s about as pretty as a Rex Ryan’s “moobs”, there is reason for hope.

The Titans, Bears, Raiders, Browns, Jets, Bills, Lions, and Patriots. These are the teams we battle during the second half. Only two playoff teams in the mix, and we went 3-1 against them last season. These eight foes were a combined 52-76 in 2009.

So, it could very well be a tale of two seasons. We’ve got to brace for an incredibly challenging parade of contenders in the first half. However, any damage done in our early battles could be offset by the much easier schedule down the stretch.

We’ve seen it time and time again in the NFL. It ain’t how you start, it’s how you finish. How else can we explain Rex Ryan’s moobs ending up just 30 minutes away from last year’s Super Bowl?

Go Dolphins!

“Moobs” had me ROFLOL. It is a brutal start! If we go 4-2 we’re in. 3-3 still have a great shot.

If we can emerge at .500, midseason, I’ll be walking on air. Then we can build some serious momentum down the stretch and hit the playoffs running.

But man, I blew it with the article title. Should’ve been “Could Fizzle, Then Sizzle”.

I say that we can easily go UNDEFEATED if we play one game at a time like the dolphins did in the 08 season. That year the dolphins won games in all kinds of bad weather and against all odds. SO, it is a mind thing. The 72 dolphins won every game that season by taking one game at a time. All the dolphins need to do this season is put the game out of reach in the FIRST HALF and then play stingy defense in the second half!

Well, 2008 may be a great comparison. We started 4-4 that year.

I’m seeing a solid 6-2 start if graybeard retires. We get the Jests and Pasties at home,Packers will be tough but Big Ben will either not play or may be rusty and he has no Holmes, the Ravens secondary is all messed up leaving us with the Dynamic dud from Cincy.

Well finfanglasshalffull, your name certainly suits you. I hope you are as psychic as you are optimistic. 6-2 would be stellar, given the schedule difficulty. I hope you’re right, and it would indeed be great to somehow avoid Big Ben and Favre.
