Koa and Cam Hop on Grandpop as Fins D Feasts

20 Sep

All hail Michael Nolan! Miami’s defense went into Mall of America Field (Really? A mall with naming rights? What is this world coming to?) and hopped on Grandpop Sunday afternoon. Mike’s Maulers were swarming all afternoon, holding the Vikings to a single touchdown (on a majestic 1-yard drive after a Ricky Williams fumble) and forcing Brett “Crazylegs”Favre into four turnovers.

The moment of absolute football glory? That’s an easy one. When Cameron Wake blazed around the edge, knocking the ball loose from Favre’s hand in the end zone, just before rookie Koa Misi dove on it for a touchdown that would be the difference in the game.

Three sacks and four forced turnovers. Amazing defense on fourth and short. Sure, Adrian Peterson got his (186 total yards and a touchdown), but this defense managed to keep from breaking when it counted most. Kudos to the secondary for making the Gamblin’ Grandaddy pay.

2-0 for our brave SoFlo Sea Mammals as they swim into more treacherous schedule territory (NYJ, NE, GB, PIT, CIN, BAL). And in case you missed it here’s the Dolphin-ized Dr. Seuss tale that predicted this win, by Bottlenose poet laureate, Duhe Duper.

Hop On Grandpop – by Duhe Duper

“I’ll hop on Grandpop,”
Said Koa to Cam,
“I’ll hop on Grandpop,
As hard as I can.”

“I’ll hop Grandpop too,”
Said Cam to Misi,
Grandpop’s been on top
Since 200 B.C.

Soon others decided to hop on Grandpop,
And once the hops started,
The hops would not stop,
Starks hopped from the left,
Kendall hopped from the right,
They hopped in the day,
And hopped through the night

They hopped Grandpop’s head,
They hopped Grandpop’s knee,
He hid ‘neath his bed,
He ran up a tree!

Grandpop said, “Hoppers, try and play nice,
I’ve got a bum ankle and no Sidney Rice.”
But the hoppers kept hopping,
That’s what hoppers do,
They started stop-hopping
The running back too!

And they would not stop,
‘Til they hopped on the plane,
Handing Grandpop his Grandpop walking cane.
They said, “Don’t be sad that we hopped you, Grandpop,
We’re not stopping hopping ’til we reach the top.”

Grandpop tipped his cap and waved goodbye,
His knee in a brace and a bruise on his eye,
He smiled to the trainer, who iced down his chest,
If you’ve gotta get hopped, get hopped by the best.

When the hopping plane flew to Stop-Hopping Land,
Fergie was there with her stop-hopping band.
J-Lo and Marc Antony sang with them too,
And five-hundred fans played the hopping kazoo,

But the hoppers didn’t dance,
And the hoppers didn’t sing,
They’ll hop at the chance,
Once they bring home a ring,

Instead they would practice more hopping and stopping,
While Marky Sanchez was out Poodle Skirt shopping,
He would be next in a prime time display,
Not only Grandpops can get hopped on all day.

Nice post over here, I definitely enjoyed the read! Another really fun week in the NFL world and again we saw a lot of things we expected and things that came out of the blue. I think the Dolphins defense showed a lot in week 2 against Brett Favre and the Vikings. They were able to shut down a team with a supposed potent offense and a made Favre look old once again. Offense wasn’t great but they shwoed enough to get the job done, and after an unimpressive win against Buffalo, they came back strong with an impressive win in Minnesota. Also, you think you could check out my blog because I’d’ love to hear what you think. http://chrisross91.wordpress.com/2010/09/20/wake-up-call/
