DOW (Dolphins Overall Worth) as the Jets come to town: 798 (+24)
ON THE RISE
VONTAE DAVIS (NYSE: VONT) +6 1/4: Vontae looked like a shutdown corner, which unfortunately means a lengthy, Revis-style holdout is looming. Vontae’s swagger is in full effect. Amazing concentration on his goal line interception. Great play all day. The kid is truly coming into his own. Expect more gains through the quarter, though VONT may make investors wary if he keeps injuring himself during celebrations.
MIKE NOLAN (NASDAQ: MNOL) +5 1/2: This game was won by our defense. This unit stopped touchdowns from point blank range. They held on fourth downs. They caused turnover after turnover. Sure, they gave up a grip of total yardage to Adrian Peterson, but last I checked lots of teams do. Everywhere he goes, defenses get better fast. This year’s Dolphins seem to be no different. MNOL is a stock you can trust.
JASON ALLEN (NYSE: JALLEN) +5: Jason has enjoyed a meteoric rise out of the penny stock bin, rewarding investors who stuck with him over the years. Allen picked off two passes to go along with 11 tackles. He is making it hard for Sean Smith to regain any traction opposite Vontae. JALLEN is one to watch, but we would wait to see consistent earning.
CLIFTON SMITH (NASDAQ: CLIF) -10: Gone daddy gone. That was quick. Just days after being signed to give a jolt to the return game, Smith was sent packing. Junk status for this return specialist, who looked timid in limited touches. Perhaps in another few looks we would have seen why he was the #1 returner in the NFL last season. Right now, the Dolphins couldn’t justify a roster spot for him.
Amazing win in a hostile environment, and a very mortal Jets squad coming to town with Uncle Revis out with a hammy issue. Could 3-0 be in our future? We’re buying. Dolphins 24- Jets 10
