Want Regime Change in Davie? Let’s Go Giants!

21 Dec

If you believe Chris “Crazylegs” Mortensen, then Bill Cowher’s letter to Santa names three teams he’d like to hand him the keys this offseason. According to Mort, the Giants, Dolphins and Texans are The Chin’s preferred destinations.

The Texans and the SoFlo Sea Mammals are both going to be on vacation soon, but the Giants are a much more interesting case. Sure, Tom Coughlin was dug out of a cliff by paleontologists. And sure, the Giants just suffered one of the most amazing defeats in NFL history. But if the G-Men win, the G-Men are in.

Giants versus Packers this coming weekend, on the frozen tundra. If Coughlin pulls this one out, it sure would be tough to fire him. The guy may have one foot in the grave and another on a banana peel, but the dude also has a Lombardi on his resume. Another trip to the postseason and you hand him a pink slip?

Firing Coughlin would be a tough sell if he rights the ship. More importantly it could take a big time destination off the table for Cowher, and possibly send him on a visit to South Florida this offseason for some wining and dining. Not to mention that guy Gruden would have one less team sending him fruit baskets.

So will it be The Cheerleader, Chucky, or The Chin?

gentlemen, COWHER is NOT the answer, he is a sexy name, but he is MORE of the same. New owner stephen ross wants to ENTERTAIN. WE need an OFFENSIVE coach. I would LOVE to land Gruden, but i dont think he is gonna walk away from MNF just yet. I’ll THROW a name out there:
BRYAN BILLICK. He is a superbowl WINNING coach, and a genius offensive mind. But his biggest attribute may be that he is a DISCIPLINARIAN & HIGHLY ORGANIZED. If we hire him, the first call should be to Mike Nolan asking him to STAY on board and build a winner.

Couldn’t agree more about the Nolan thing. We need to make him the highest paid coordinator in the league, pronto. He’s been almost too good this year, and I’m officially worried about him being signed away to HC somewhere. I too prefer Gruden to Cowher, especially if we can keep Nolan. I like the idea of Gruden really sinking his teeth into improving the offense.

Thanks for being a loyal Bottlenose reader, Brett. And happy holidays!
