Ross Either Lying or Insane?

8 Jan

The part of our beloved Owner’s open letter to fans that jumped out at The Bottlenose? It’s that little sentence about not contacting Gruden or Cowher.

Let’s get this straight, this man is “obsessed” with winning, yet didn’t reach out to the two most eligible, storied, decorated candidates around, one of whom already floated the Dolphins as a preferred destination? Ross dove onto his private jet and raced across the continent to interview a Pac Ten coach, but forgot to reach out to the guys with Lombardis on their resumes? That would be lunacy.

Which gives me the distinct feeling that he’s lying, presumably to protect Tony’s nearly broken heart. This way he can just make it seem like it was just two old Michigan guys enjoying a few PBRs in Palo Alto, barely even a coaching search. Just a kindly little meet and greet before Ross realized that Tony was the greatest coach on the face of the Earth. Oh come now.

Then there’s the cop-out, the bit of political wording that almost immediately qualifies Ross for public office. He states specifically that he didn’t talk to Cowher or Gruden. This of course leaves open the possibility of a 72-hour volley of phone calls and emails between Ross and the representatives of Chucky and The Chin.

We assume Ross learned exactly what Cowher and Gruden wanted during that fast and furious period. We assume either the power or money they wanted was greater than Ross (Or Ireland. Would anyone expect Jeff to give a thumbs up to a move that would include him walking the plank?) was willing to relinquish.

Which explains the sudden, forced love-in we witnessed this afternoon. Blech.

I think your wrong. Hes a business man first and foremost though but his lie would be to easy o catch if he was and you donet hear Gruden or Cowher calling him one or saying they talked wioth him only reports

If you want to see a poker face, ask Ross if he spoke to Gruden and/or Cowher’s representatives.

I can’t bring myself to believe the guy in massive damage control mode over multiple sources around the league.

I think Peterson was likely the one to speak with Cowher and Gruden and sine Peterson is not employed by Ross, his statement is accurate that neither him nor anyone from his organization spoke to the coaches.

In the end, when the dust cleared, the sad cold fact is that Sparano and ireland are still here. Sparano is Parcell’s puppet. Never had a winning season at any level in a as a hc before coming here. Simple an assistant coach his whole nfl life. He is not qualified nor does he have the intelligence to be a hc. Miami has never had or kept a hc who has had back-to-back loosing seasons until now. 201 they will likely end up 6-10 I predicted 7-9 for this season. Next will be even harder with the NFC East. Suprano and Ireland will b fired this coming year and finally we will ah a quality coach and gm.

Lastly, most of the teams extended their loosing coaches contract at the end of the year. I believe the owners fear a protracted delay in the season and do not want to commit to a 30-40m contract for hc and gm including Ross.

Yes, Ross’ wording may be technically true, but he’s hoping it’s interpreted a completely different way. They crafted that press conference to the letter, and it smelled like bulls**t to us.

Agreed that possible labor unrest is impacting the coaching hires/fires, but I believe contracts could be crafted to honor that possibility. After all, coaches could be left with no players to coach for months.

And after this circus crap by Ross and co, you think a high profile candidate isn’t going to think twice about coming to Davie next year? This embarrassment could have a lasting impact.

Thanks for your comments. Happy New Year.
