Now How About Sliding that Will Allen Money Over to Paul Soliai?

28 Jan

The Sea Mammals are expected to release cornerback Will Allen, who was due $5.5 million this coming season. Here’s hoping we use a bit of this new found cash to lock up Paul “The Mad Islander” Soliai before he hulas away to another team.

While you’ve got to plug holes in the offseason, it’s also crucial not to create new ones. Soliai was the anchor of the NFL’s #6 defense. He was a force, and helped to give our squad an identity.

Improving our anemic offense will go a long way toward making Miami a factor in 2011, but letting our defense take a 340lb step backwards could easily offset that.

We need Will Allen! What if Vontae Davis gets injured in preseason and looses 8 to 10 games due to the injury. Now, without Allen, we are down to second rate coverage. However, with Will Allen on the field, we will not deminish in coverage. Miami should see if Allen will take less money and if so, they should keep him. Remember, this is the season to produce; no excuses!

For the right price Allen would be nice insurance, but you can’t throw huge cash at a nickel CB. What does a guy like Nolan Carroll make? About $300,000? If we like the upside of one of our younger, cheaper guys, that money better go to starters. And I agree that Jason Taylor should sign with Miami, but only for a day, in order to retire a Dolphin. He had 5 sacks this year. Misi had 4.5, and is going to improve. In my opinion.

Thanks for stopping by The Bottlenose.

Now on defense, we should resign Jason Taylor. He can split time with Misi and he may even beat out Misi. He still has gas in his tank. With Taylor on one end and Wake on the other; all opposing quarterbacks will be shaking in their boots each week! Make it happen.
