The Good News? We Won’t Know if We Screwed Up on Mallett for a Long Time

30 Apr

Our recent “Who Will Be the Next Quarterback of the Miami Dolphins?” poll turned up an amazing 36% in favor of Ryan “Slim Shady” Mallett. Why was that an amazing number? Because the poll included seven rookie prospects, Vince Young, Kyle Orton, Kevin Kolb, Donovan McNabb, Chad Henne and “Other”.

Of course, history will record that we passed on Mallett in the first, then traded up into the second in order to pass on him again. The tall drink of water will now lay his head at Foxboro, trapped behind one of the greatest quarterbacks of the era. Oh yeah, and that quarterback is signed for the next four seasons.

So, though this may sting for many of us, we can take solace in the idea that, barring injury or trade, we won’t know if or how badly we screwed the proverbial pooch for years.

And by then, Football Gods willing, we will have a franchise quarterback of our own.

Why do those rascals keep tormenting the dolphin fans this way and pass over ryan mallett. They will regret this move for many years to come. However, sparano and Ireland do not care, because this is their last year with the dolphins anyway. Ross, needs to demand the draft of good talent like mallett. This foolishness is sickening because it keeps happening EVERY year!

I have to say, not a bad job so far, despite the Mallett thing. Orton, Kolb, Vince Young, McNabb, Carson Palmer. We’re not necessarily heading into 2011 with Henne under center. Best interior lineman in the draft, a top 3 RB/bruiser, a deep threat WR/KR.

So far this draft is an A- for me.

The Dolphins are definitely one of the teams I’m really surprised didn’t take Mallett. I thought the Patriots were so smart to take Ryan Mallett. They obviously see something in the guy and with his problems he is now going to be able to learn the game in a great environment without having any pressure of starting now. Character issues or not, I’m amazed that a guy with the physical tools of Mallett could fall all the way the 74, especially when a guy like Ponder gets taken at 12. I think some teams in need of a quarterback are really going to regret it and with the pick the Pats really haven’t used much to get the guy. Also, you think you could check out my blog cuz I’d love to hear what you have to say. Also, you think you could check out my blog cuz I’d love to hear what you have to say.
